General Information and proposed term dates: 2025/2026

Term 4, 2025 Art Tuition  ends 13 December, 2025

Term 1, 2026 Art Tuition begins  9 February, 2026 ends 2 April, 2026

Term 2, 2026 Art Tuition begins 20 April, 2026 ends 4 July, 2026

No art classes held on public holiday weekends, Waitangi Weekend, Easter Weekend, Anzac day/weekend, Kings Birthday Weekend, Labour Weekend, and Canterbury Anniversary Weekend, Matariki weekend.

Childrens Art Classes are provided during school terms. Home-schooled, and educational facilities by private arrangement.

Pupils attending June’s art tuition practice, choose their own subject, style and materials. Creative photography also available. Creative thinking sessions held at end of each term. These provide an extension to general learning and new art experience opportunities, and include updates on current international trends.

Each year an additional opportunity to participate in a special topic is provided outside of personal art projects. This can include art history,  or practical art techniques. All enrolled pupils receive a certificate of achievement and learning.

For those participating in the additional learning special topic content, they receive a “Special Certificate” of both general learning achievements and the special learning content. This certificate content is unique each year.

Discounts for more than one child from one family, are available, check at time of enrollment.

To secure a placement for next term, contact June ASP. Currently, demand is high for some sessions, and there are limited places available.

Pupils work on their own individual work projects, and choose their own subject, style and materials. Additional learning opportunities are provided each year in the form of a unique, ” Special Certificate” of learning, on unique topics, which may include: art history, or different materials, and techniques. This certificate also includes general art achievements and learning.

All other pupils receive a, “General Certificate”, of attendance and learning.  At the end of Term 4 each year, along with the two certificates on offer, pupils also have the opportunity to contribute artworks, for trophies on offer, subject to criteria and entry numbers set at the time. These are to keep.

Popular current materials with pupils are: pen, pencil, water colour, coloured pencil,  3D construction, felts, graphite powder, collage, mixed media, construction, fibre, wax, wire, card, charcoal, felt pen, photography, pen and wash, natural materials, scratch board, felt, wire, chalk pastel, oils, acrylic, inks, timber, mixed media, card/paper sculptures, to name a few.

A variety of styles, and subject, are extended in class. Popular styles at present are: Realism, cubism, symbolism, fauvism, impressionism, illusion, self-expressionism,  geometric abstract, abstract expressionism, model making, and surrealism and fantasy, pop art, architectural rendering, animation, cartoon, constructivism, surrealism, designs, and doodle art, and sculpture, wall hangings and mobiles.

Current popular subject : fantasy caricatures,  medieval, architectural, imaginary characters, foxes, cats, dogs, owls, dragons, cartoons, still life, city, forest and landscape, food, transformers, abstract, rainbows, African animals, sea-life, landscapes, birds, portraits, steam punk, transport, mixed media, and fashion, along with 2025 “Special Topic Certificate”, 2025, “Five Classic Orders of Architecture”

Art Tuition Update: Art Tuition is available after school hours, 3.30-5pm, and Saturday mornings, 9-10.30pm & 10.30 to 12.00 noon, 11.30- 1pm, during the school term subject to demand and availability.  Classes may vary due to term demands. Check at time of enrollment. Classes available include home-schooled, teenagers, tertiary Students, adults, NESL, and special needs and mental health organisations.
